The challenge
Freshwater and environmental issues required sustained public visibility and informed public discussion across Nepal. The challenge was to move beyond one-off media products and create a coordinated media ecosystem that could reach diverse audiences, support dialogue, and strengthen the quality of environmental journalism.
Our approach
Our lead consultant, for this job had managed and oversaw the implementation of a large-scale media and outreach grant with NEFEJ, ensuring that production, dissemination, and engagement worked as an integrated system. The focus was on combining mass media, digital platforms, and face-to-face engagement so issues were reinforced across channels rather than communicated in isolation.
We worked closely with journalists, producers, and partners to align content with program priorities while maintaining editorial credibility and public relevance.

Our lead consultant developed and implemented a comprehensive communication strategy for Nepal’s first national freshwater biodiversity initiative. The strategy empowered communities, translated research into actionable knowledge, and strengthened learning and coordination across local, basin, and national levels. Tailored media, community engagement, and capacity-building ensured lasting impact and institutional learning.
